The Monarch Butterfly population is in decline. one reason is the loss of habitat. Milkweed is the only plant they will lay their eggs on as it is a poisonous plant and the thus protects the caterpillar from its predators. We planted Showy Milkweed where they get no supplemental water. In July we watched for the caterpillars to make their chrysalis and then transform into a beautiful Monarch Butterflies.
